Ginger Pop is about Enid Blyton and her era. Our activities give today’s readers a taste of life from the middle of the last century, and their grandparents a proper nostalgia fix! Most of all, they are great fun for everyone!

.
Anytime
We’ve left some things for Enid Blyton fans to find around Corfe Castle village.
· The Wishing Chair is outside the Corfe Shop (when the shop is open & it isn’t raining!)
· The bakery window-in-the-wall contains a model of an Enid Blyton book
· The Famous Five Storyboard is in the railway station garden
.
Take a good look at our building in Poole.
· Have you seen who is looking in the window?
· Have you found the White Rabbit door?
· Have you played “spot the picture” with our Big Book in the foyer?
· Have you looked at our exhibition cases in the shop?

Enid Blyton’s Birthday Party 11th August
This is the day that the Ginger Pop Wishing Chair adorns its red wings, and can be found at the top of Corfe Castle! Every year is a bit different, but we always have a wide variety of activities, which has included non-stop storytelling, art and craft, Morse code, lacrosse, and revived the traditional classroom skills of paper plane folding and rubber-and-ruler twanging. A very fine Birthday Cake rounds off a very enjoyable day.
.
Enid Blyton Activity Day. Thursday of summer half term
This is the Day that Ginger Pop takes a theme and explores it in some depth. In 2012 we will be marking the 70th anniversary of the Famous Five and launching the Famous Five Adventure Trail 2012. This will be running until the end of October, and will enable fans to partake in a real Famous Five style adventure.
.
Previous themes have included:-
Detective Day – Bournemouth University’s Forensic Department prepared us a mystery, and we also wrote secret messages in lemon juice which were revealed by a flat iron heated on a BBQ.
Malory Towers Day – our maths lesson was how to price up your midnight feast using old money, and at one stage we had over 50 people throwing and (sometimes) catching lacrosse balls
Enid Blyton at War – We discovered that Enid Blyton headed a national campaign to get children to collect medicinal herbs for hospitals, and did bomb disposal for beginners.
Events on Brownsea Island for The National Trust.
Normal island admission fees apply.

Brownsea Island features as Whispering Island in the 20th Famous Five book;
Five have a mystery to solve, so our one hour walk will take the theme of Islands.
Dates for 2012 to be confirmed
Activities at Eileen Soper’s Illustrated Worlds
The Christmas Book - a non-stop storytelling.
We are open to ideas for using our facility for Team Building days, visits from groups out-of-hours, or as part of an activity day. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

We come to you – talks and activities. Please contact us for further
details.
.
Five Cheers for Enid Blyton. A 45 minute talk looking at Blyton’s genius. With slides suitable for adults. Fees - £25 and 25p/mile.
.
Enid Blyton at War. Using extracts from Teacher’s World magazine from the outbreak of war through to VE Day, we show how Enid Blyton helped maintain the morale of the nation’s children. With a box full of props, and a guest appearance from Bobs her patriotic dog, it is both moving and at times hilarious. This is an hour long presentation suitable for both children and adults. Price tba
.
Hornby Train Set. We’ve got an extensive collection of pre-war Hornby ‘O’ gauge train set. There are stations, level crossings, signals and signal boxes, and our (pride and joy) clockwork trains. It doesn’t deserve to be kept in a box – and it’s a great activity for gentlemen in care homes. Price tba.
